I want that Body - Bulimia nervosa

Will you do anything in order to achieve the body you want? Nowadays, women becomes so conscious with their body. Well, you can't blame them for that, some people are so cruel when it comes to physical appearance.  This kind of situation is popular among women especially when they are aiming for a slim body like the celebrity they idolized.
Bulimia Nervosa is a psychological eating disorder in which a person binges and purges. It is characterized by continuous eating and then followed by getting rid of the food by laxatives or self-induced vomiting. A person with bulimia is perfectly normal, yet they are tend to be high achievers. It begins with dissatisfaction of the person's body and extreme concern with weight and body size. A person suffering from bulimia has a very low self-esteem, she takes his situation seriously. It usually begins during adolescent period and it mostly occur in women. Studies shown that more than 2/3 of all young girls start to monitor their own weight between the age of 9 and 12 already.

  • Vigorous exercise
  • Vomiting or abusing laxatives or diuretics in an attempt to lose weight.

  • Swollen glands in neck and face
  • Heartburn

Treatment:




Psychotherapy, family therapy and medication are the most effective treatment for bulimia. The therapy must be continuous, in that case, a proper discipline is a must. For medication treatment, antidepressant are often suggested. The most common antidepressants are Fluoxetine (Prozac), Sertraline (Zoloft), Paroxetine (Paxil), and Fluvoxamine (Luvox). Bulimia is a serious condition and it must be treated before it becomes severe.
Note: Some studies indicate that using Prozac and other antidepressants may cause children and teenagers to have suicidal thoughts. So, patients should be monitored very carefully. Proper healthy eating is the best way to prevent from getting this disorder.

  • Tooth erosion, cavities, and gum problems

  • Water retention, swelling, and abdominal bloating

  • Acute stomach distress

  • Fluid loss with low potassium levels (due to excessive vomiting or laxative use; can lead to extreme weakness, near paralysis, or lethal heart rhythms)

  • Irregular periods

  • Swallowing problems and esophagus damage

  • Rupture of the esophagus, or food pipe

  • Weakened rectal walls (rare, but serious condition that requires surgery)
